Absolutely! This site is for people of all abilities, and if you’re a beginner, walking is a great way to start. The aim is to start gradually and then improve over time. (See tips and advice)
No. The underlying philosophy of the site is honesty. You will only be cheating yourself if you enter an inaccurate time! If you forget your time, don’t make it up – do it again and this time make sure you’ve set your watch!
We have our own charitable trust fund (See charitable trust fund) to which a percentage of all site revenue is donated. We will also hold regular charity challenges which you’ll be able to participate in. However, you’re free to raise money for a charity of your choice, all you need to do is set up your own private challenge group, or get yourself sponsored to take part in one of the public challenges.
Yes. You can set up a private challenge with an estimated distance. For example, the “Woodland trail”, estimated distance 3 miles. It’s really easy to set up a private challenge group (See create a challenge).
Yes. See our tips and advice pages (See tips and advice) and also our forum (See forum). We also provide interesting news articles which includes advice (See news).
Many sports centers have pay as you go facilities. However, you don’t need access to a treadmill to use the site. You can still set up challenges that are based outdoors, be it either walking or running a particular distance, or particular route even if you’re not sure of the distance.
It’s easy – either send them personal e-mail invites, or just let them know the challenge password and unique reference number and they’ll be able to join it without an individual invitation. For example, if you’re setting up a challenge for your colleagues at work, you can simply put up a poster in the staff room with the challenge number and password.
Yes. When you set up a private challenge just use a course name that your fellow runners will recognize (e.g. “Tuesday night park run”, or “round the lake trail”) and an approximate distance. You can now invite as many people as you like to join this challenge and enter their times. (See create a challenge).
It’s up to you. If you want them to join, just inform them of the challenge password. To ensure maximum protection, we recommend you do not give out any information that could lead to a personal meeting until you are certain it is safe to do so.
You can call your challenge anything you want (but not a name that is likely to cause offence – See terms of use). We recommend you don’t give information away that will make it too easy for an unknown party to identify where and when you run.
We recognize that many runners forget to note their times, or lose recorded times. Any times you enter for challenges you participate in on this site will be stored automatically. You can also enter any other times that are special to you; such as a 10k run you did a couple of years ago. You can at any time print all these times, or a selection of them, on your own personal achievement certificate. Never lose a time again!
Lucky you! If this is the case, you can still set up your own outdoor challenges. You’ll also be able to enter our elite event where ultra-fast treadmills will be available.
If supervised and permitted by your club or school then your child’s time can be submitted. We advise that younger children tackle only the shorter distances, and exercise particular caution under the supervision of a competent adult.
Of course. Our Global challenges are open to everyone. They are listed on the front page. They range in distance from 1 mile to 26.2 miles and can be done in the Gym and outside. Just click on your choice and you will soon be part of the global group competing to improve their time and position.
